Anthropic: TCS Becomes Strategic Partner — 50,000 Employees in 56 Countries to Gain Claude Access

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the Indian IT firm with a presence in 56 countries and one of the world’s largest consulting capacities, joined Anthropic’s Claude partner network on June 12, 2026, as a consulting and services partner. The partnership marks one of the largest corporate Claude deployments announced to date, both in scope and geographic reach.

Scope of the Partnership and TCS’s Role

The central element of the agreement is an internal deployment: 50,000 TCS employees will gain access to Claude for everyday business work, with an emphasis on software engineering, IT operations, and the productivity of consulting teams. TCS is also building a dedicated team combining consultants, engineers, and specialists to implement Claude with clients in regulated industries.

TCS’s banking team will use Claude Code — Anthropic’s tool for generating and analyzing code — while custom add-ons are also in development for automating insurance claims settlement processes and advisory services in lending. The financial terms of the partnership have not been disclosed.

Diligenta and TCS iON: Concrete Applications in Practice

Two particularly highlighted use cases illustrate the ambition of the partnership. Diligenta, TCS’s life insurance and pension services subsidiary in the United Kingdom, plans to use Claude to enhance customer support for a base of 22 million insurance policyholders. Specific goals include faster query resolution, more personalized responses, and reduced workload for customer support agents.

TCS iON, a digital learning and certification platform, will integrate Claude into educational assessment and certification processes. The platform conducts more than 75 million assessments per year in more than 1,500 Indian cities — potentially making this one of the largest AI assistant deployments in an educational context globally.

Why Has India Become Anthropic’s Second-Largest Market?

Alongside the partnership announcement, Anthropic publicly confirmed for the first time that India is its second-largest market — a data point that had not previously been made public. The statement comes in the context of TCS’s headquarters in Mumbai and the company’s global reach, signaling that Anthropic’s growth strategy is not limited to North American or European markets.

Dario Amodei, co-founder and CEO of Anthropic, emphasized that Claude is “built to be safe, reliable, and helpful, especially in contexts where accuracy matters most” — a description that directly targets regulated industries such as healthcare and finance where TCS has deep experience and established client relationships. The partnership with TCS therefore also functions as a strategic entry point into markets that demand high levels of trust and compliance.

Target Industries and Business Applications

The partnership explicitly targets seven regulated sectors: financial services, healthcare, the public sector, insurance, life sciences, aviation, and telecommunications. The common denominator of these industries is a high level of regulatory complexity and risk exposure, meaning that accuracy and auditability requirements for AI systems are substantially higher than in consumer applications.

In addition to the already mentioned applications at Diligenta and TCS iON, banking teams will work on lending advisory applications, while insurance teams are developing modules for claims settlement automation. Anthropic’s statement highlights that TCS brings “consulting experience, engineering capacity, and understanding of business processes” — a combination that, according to Anthropic, is essential for the successful implementation of AI in complex corporate environments.
